Vintagents Rules

These are rules that are specific to competitions held  within the Vintagents Club

RC 38 ANTIQUE

The Vintagents follow the MAAA rules except that scaling is allowed, everything else is the same.

CLASS 'B' DURATION

DESCRIPTION: This is a limited run event for two stroke engines of up to 0.32 cubic inches.

AIRCRAFT ELIGIBILITY:
[a]  This event is open to all aircraft which were designed, kitted or published on or before the 31st December 1956.
[b]  The minimum wing area is as per normal Duration rules. (5.4.1.2[a].( except as in
[c]  Aircraft fitted with a cross scavenged engine may use the wing area rule for Nostalgia Models.

[a]  Class “B” events are open to all two-stroke engines of up to 0.32 cubic inches.
[b]  All Schneurle ported engines are to be fitted with a effective throttle and a muffler supported by the engine alone.
N.B. An effective throttle is an instrument that allows the engine to be started at low rpm, advanced to full power, returned to idle and then shut down.
[c]  Cross - scavenged engines are not subject to the above rule, but must have a remotely controlled effective cut - off.

FUELS:
[a]  Fuels are unrestricted in this event except that prohibited fuel ingredients as defined by the M.A.A.A. may not be used.

ENGINE RUN TIME ALLOCATION:
[a]  All engine runs are of 25 seconds duration

FLIGHT PROCEDURES:
[a]  Each contestant will have the opportunity to make five official flights of which four will count toward the contestant’s official score.
[b]  The maximum flight time is seven (7) minutes.

FLY-OFF:
[a]  As per normal Duration event.

STANDARD 1.5CC (MK17)

DESCRIPTION:  This event is a new a duration  event based on one engine type, namely the Russian MK17 Diesel.

ENGINE ELIGIBILITY:
(a) Any Russian MK17 engine.
(b) An engine cut-off must be fitted and operated by a transmitted RC command.

FUELS:
(a) Fuels are unrestricted in this event except that prohibited fuel ingredients may not be used as defined by the MAAA.

ENGINE RUN TIME ALLOCATION.
(a) All engine run times will be  50seconds.

FLIGHT PROCEDURE:
(a) Each contestant will have the opportunity to make three official flights of which the best two(2) will count towards the official score.
(b) The maximum flight time is five (5) minutes..
(c) Model may be hand launched.

(FLY-OFF:
(a)   If at the end of the official flights a fly-off is necessary, it will be on a normal motor run and the longest flight will be the winner.

TWOCCOMBINED
(Allan Mowat Memorial Competition)

DESCRIPTION:  This  is an event for combined Duration and Texaco using the same motor and airframe.

AIRCRAFT ELIGIBILITY:
(a) This event is open to all aircraft designed, kitted or published before 31st December 1956.

ENGINE ELIGIBILITY:
(a) This event is open to all two-stroke glow or diesel engines of 2cc or less.
(b) All flights must be flown with the same engine.  A different propeller may be used for the Duration and Texaco segments.

FUELS:
(a) Fuel is unrestricted in this event except that prohibited fuel ingredients may not be used as defined by MAAA.

FLIGHT PROCEDURES:

DURATION SEGMENT:
(a) Maximum flight time is five minutes (300 seconds).
(b) Engine run time is 45 seconds.

TEXACO SEGMENT:
(a) Maximum of 6ml of fuel, regardless of aircraft weight or size.
(b) Maximum flight time is ten minutes (600 seconds)
(c) Each contestant will have the opportunity to make three flights in each segment.
One throwaway is allowed in each segment.

SCORING:
(a) The total points per contestant is achieved by multiplying the total of the two flights in Duration by two (2) and adding to the total of the two (2) Texaco flights.

FLY OFF:
If at the end of the official flights a fly-off is necessary, it will be decided by the Texaco segment with normal fuel allowance, the longest flight the winner.

TEXACO 'A'

"Vintagents" Climb and Glide

This is based on the now famous 'Dalby Climb and Glide Contest" to which we give full credit for the concept.

[a]        The motor run is 60 seconds for all two and four stroke engines.

[b]        There is no limit to flight time.

[c]        Three flights are allowed to achieve your best time.

[d]        Attempt is to be called within 60 seconds, next flight to count.

[e]        Any pre 1957 aircraft design is allowed to compete.

[f]         The contestant achieving the longest flight will be the winner.

[g]      The flights will be in rounds unless otherwise declared by the C.D.

[h]      Aircraft must land in the defined area to score the flight.
